While I never seem to mention it on this blog music plays a huge part in my life and nearly everything I do in life is set to music so it seemed naturally fitting to blog about my top albums of 2010.

Sia – We are born
A refreshing and surprisingly upbeat pop album from Sia which I must have listened to most days since its release.
Best track: All of it

Alphabeat – The spell
I loved alphabeats first album to death so their follow up had to be just as good and thankfully was… A brilliant collection of pop music with a distinctly 80s club vibe the spell did not disappoint.
Best track: The spell/DJ/heatwave

Kate Nash – My best friend is you
While a lot of people seemed to dislike Nash’s follow up to made of bricks I was impressed. Still recognizable enough as typical Kate Nash, this album proved Nash had evolved as both a artist and songwriter.
Best track: Paris

Marina and the diamonds – The family Jewels
One of the albums I was most excited about for 2010. While a lot of it had already been released prior in forms of eps and singles it was still a solid album from Marina spawning a lot of really good singles.
Best track: Oh no!/Hollywood

Robyn – Body Talk parts 1-3
Robyn proved with body talk that you can make innovative new pop music without having to go down the Lady Gaga route. In particular I really liked part 3 best.
Best track: Too many to list but right now get myself together

Scissor sisters – Night work
Yet another flawless album from the scissor sisters. It’s that simple.
Best track: Night work/Any which way

Vampire Weekend – Contra
It was always going to be a tough job making a follow up album to their hugely successful first EP but vampire weekend did it once again with contra. While at first I was a bit skeptical, it totally grew on me and I now love it.
Best track: White sky/run/holiday

Rihanna – Loud
Trying out a new direction worked out well for Rihanna, Loud is some of her best music to date. While each track is slightly different it works and is full of catchy tunes.
Best track: Only girl/S&M/Whats my name

Kylie – Aphrodite
The perfect feel good album for Kylies latest come back and full of dance-pop gems. While it’s now a slightly bitter sweet album for many a reason I did play it to death over the summer.
Best track: Outta my way

Florrie – An introduction
While not strictly an album florries an introduction is one of my favorite releases of the year and she is certainly going to be one to watch for 2011. If you like catchy dance-pop this one is for you.
Best track: Summer nights

The arcade fire – The suburbs
Not being that big of an arcade fire fan prior to the suburbs I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this album. A lot more dare I say commercial and polished than previous efforts. There was also that rather amazing HTML5 video for we used to wait.
Best track: We used to wait/empty room/the suburbs/city with no children

Katy Perry – Teenage Dream
Prior to teenage dream I wasn’t much of a Perry fan, however teenage dream made me a convert. While some tracks are a bit lackluster their slightly more epic counterparts are enough to carry the rest of the album as a whole.
Best track: Teenage dream

Honorable mentions go to: I blame coco, hurts, Diana Vickers, girl talk, Ellie Goulding and example.

Looking back at albums from this year it seems that 2010 wasnt that great year for albums in general, singles on the other hand, there were a good few. Maybe I should have just done a list of singles? It was also a pretty good year for pop music it seems. Heres hoping 2011 is a little bit better on the album front and even better with the singles.

I know what you mean about Contra. I was too worked up about it at first and was disappointed, but it has since grown on me (I like “Giving Up the Gun”).

    All in all, great list!
