Last night I went to see the World Press Photo exhibition at the Festival Hall. The exhibition features work from 196 photographers displaying some of the best photo journalism of the year. This year 5,508 photographers submitted a huge 96,268 photographs, which was a record number.
The exhibition is pretty small but the images themselves are incredibly powerful. Although some of the images were rather disturbing and not for the faint hearted they were visually and emotionally amazing. I haven’t actually seen a exhibition in a while that made me feel some kind of emotion as strong as this, and I highly suggest going if your in the London area. I came away feeling pretty moved and feeling slightly guilty that I’m incredibly unaware/ignorant to the amount of terrible things going on in the world. I also took some photos (not sure if you were allowed, but oh well) they are under the cut!
The exhibition is on at festival hall until the 13th December and is on Level 2 and best of all, it’s free! While your there you can also take a look at the Art By Offenders exhibition which has a few gems also.
