Givenchy Couture – Fall 2010
19th July, 2010
In terms of amazing, jaw dropping fashion design this is about as good as it gets. Givenchy unveiled their couture collection this week and it’s pretty much the best thing I have laid my eyes on this year. Granted couture collections are always a bit special, over the top or unique to say the least but this seemed to tick all the right boxes. The highly detailed dresses were nothing short of amazing and detailed with lace, applique, fringe and feathers. Aside from the one feathered dress the color palette was fleshtone, white or gold and the simple colors worked perfectly not to take away all the details of the dresses. Without a doubt this has to be one of houses best collections to date and so far is my favorite collection of the couture collections and unless something even more amazing comes along I’m pretty sure it’s going to stay that way. The V&A.
12th July, 2010

Without a shadow of a doubt the V&A is my favorite museum in london. It has everything you could ever want in a museum and it’s galleries are a constant source of inspiration. So on friday despite the boiling hot weather I headed down to see the new 1.1 – Architects build small spaces exhibition, an exhibit displaying 7 small buildings commissioned for the museum by various architects. Naturally once I’d seen all 7 I decided to have a look around the museum elsewhere. I have not visited the V&A since it opened its new ceramic and sculpture galleries so I had yet to see them in all their glory. I was completely in awe however, particularly with the ceramic galleries. I have never seen so much ceramic all in one place. Stacked from ceiling to floor in huge glass cabinets was every piece of ceramic you could possible dream of, in every size and color possible. Perhaps a little overwhelming at first but never the less sort of epic. Despite it being a bit hot what with the glass roofs and the mere fact that there was a heat-wave I still managed to spend a good hour or more in there looking though every piece in the collection, although I’m almost certain I missed out tons of amazing things which I will of course have to go back and see.
I took a fair few photos, of nothing in particulary just items I liked or things I found interesting color/pattern/texture wise a few are under the cut! More over at my flickr account.

Trussardi 1911 – SS11
22nd June, 2010
It’s no surprise that I’d love Trussardi’s SS11 collection… Carrying on from where the label left off with it’s last collection (which I also loved) this collection has the same feel, only a bit more suave and cool. The collection uses a variety of prints and patterns, some of which could potentially be disasters, such as leopard print, leopard prints in leathers, camouflage and african style ndebele prints but they work, and work incredibly well without falling into the common pitfalls of looking cheap etc. I loved the overall classy yet effortless look the collection had, although I was not a major fan of the more sportswear inspired looks. Naturally I am in love with the red motorcycle jacket and the slouchy tee’s. While this is all well above my means, I’m now totally thinking maybe those leopard print keds weren’t so bad after all…

Burberry Prorsum SS11
21st June, 2010
I am without a doubt a massive Christopher Bailey/burberry fan, every season Bailey manages to create something new and exciting but still distinctly Burberry, the menswear SS11 collection was of course no different. The whole collection played up to burberrys cool rock and roll aesthetic to the max, with the leathers, motorcycle jackets (which i’ll come to later) and studs, a look which Bailey carries off really well without making it seem cheap or to over the top.
I love a good motorcycle jacket so the highlight of the whole collection for me was the amount of motorcycle jackets incorporated into the looks, especially the studded black number which was a bit intense. Of course there was the usual variation of the classic Burberry trench, although I wasn’t a fan of the pieces which were cut longer. Other highlights of the collection for me were rather surprisingly the leather trousers and the gladiator birkinstocks, normally I’m dead set against anything birkinstock despite loving sandals and leather trousers on men is a pretty hard look to pull off without looking cheap/sleazy but being the genius Bailey is he pulled the whole thing off and yet again presented another amazing collection for the label.

Hip hop watches!
18th June, 2010
I am a bit of a watch lover, I love all watches and feel completely naked without a watch on. Most recently I’ve abandoned my gold watches in favor of swatches color codes collection which I now have in three colors (red, blue and white, how british of me!) and love to pieces, they are simple and add a nice pop of color to an outfit. This week however I found a pretty sweet alternative to rival my love of my swatch watches in the form of hip hop watches… Now, don’t let the name put you off, these watches have nothing to do with hip hop culture and there is not an ounce of bling on them.
Created by renowned italian watch makers Binda hip hop watches were originally launched in 1985 and were a huge success for the company. Fast forward to the present day and they have now relaunched the watches and given them a bit of a revival. The cool part about these watches is the ability they have to be chopped and changed around. The clock face is available in either black or white and comes with a removable 32mm case allowing you to change the strap to whatever color suits your mood. Watches are £24 and an additional £6 for each strap, so not a bad deal really given that you can have one watch and alter it to match what you are wearing everyday!
