10 Jackets for AW10
3rd September, 2010

Strangely enough now that we are in September and the weather should be starting to take a turn for the worst in typical British fashion it’s done the complete opposite. The start of September has been rather lovely (in London anyway) and so winter jackets are probably the least of your worries right now, however if you are like me and like to plan ahead or plan for the worst because British weather is oh so unpredictable then I’ve picked out 10 lovely jackets!

Granted, most of these jackets are way above the majority of peoples price ranges but of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a look or get inspired. Given the current shearling aviator jacket trend courtesy of burberry I have yet to find a decent, affordable option for men, however there are some rather lovely pricer options in the form of A.P.C and acne and if money is not an issue then the real deal itself. More affordable jacket options however are the river island double breasted jacket and the weekday parka which I am currently lusting after even though I have a perfectly good parka already. Although the Barbour would be a good investment piece as they can be re-waxed year after year. Dream options of course would be both of the amazing burberry options and maybe the A.P.C or Acne numbers.

Links to all the jackets and where to buy them can be found below:

1. A.P.C – Perfecto Jacket 2. American College USA – Varsity jacket (@ ASOS) 3. Barbour – Carbon heritage bedale 4. Burberry – Shearling aviator jacket 5. Peace Corps – Vintage Italian army jacket 6. Acne – Sheepskin flight jacket 7. D&G – Military cropped wool trench 8. Burberry – Khaki trench coat 9. River Island – Navy double breasted jacket 10. Weekday – Huge parka

Go Glamping!
1st September, 2010

Every summer my friends and I always say we will make plans to go camping, of course this never actually happens or evolves to anything. Partly because we are all very lazy and partly because none of us are that enthralled with the idea of showering outdoors and having to do nature wee’s for a prolonged amount of time. However Glamping might change all of that. Yes.. I said glamping…

Launched last year go glamping is the first website solely dedicated to camping in luxury, and a very nice website it is indeed (no ads!) If camping certainly was not your thing before it might just be now. With a whole bunch of amazing locations around the world playing host to some of the best in first class camping it is just a bit more exciting than your usual camping trip.

I’m particulary taken with Ekopod in cornwall and Ecocamp Patagonia in Chile it’s breath taking surroundings make it look a bit amazing. Clearly I am fan of the more “pod” type tents. Of course there are so many sites and places, a lot in the UK alone so making a decision is a bit of a toughie.

You can visit the Glamping website here and follow them on twitter here.

COS – AW10
27th August, 2010

Soon enough COS is going to need it’s own category  here on ennsense… I’m a major, major fan of H&M’s high end label, and I recently seem to have brought quite  a lot in there. In terms of quality and price points COS is actually not bad despite being labeled H&M’s pricer sibling, granted, it’s a lot more expensive than H&M but it’s not extortionate. Not to mention they also have really good sales too! My most recent purchases are an amazing soft leather satchel (above) and silk/jersey mix tshirt.

The AW10 collection is very typical COS. It’s simple, fresh and elegant, clothes you can wear everyday or dress up to make them a little more special and of course they all look a lot more expensive than they actually are. There is some of this season’s must do trends in there in the form of camels and leathers too of course. There is also some rather nice photography involving selected pieces displayed in a variety of iteresting ways.

The whole ad campaign and womens & mens collections can be found on the COS website, although the mens look book doesn’t seem to do the mens collection much justice. It’s far better in person!

Carven – AW10
24th August, 2010

A few days a go my good friend Becca brought to my attention French fashion label Carven, in particular their AW10 collection. After looking at the look-book a few times and then discovering their ad campaign I was completely in love with it.

Currently in the hands of former Givenchy designer Guillaume Henry Carven is a mix of  modern everyday clothes with a slight twist. Something to make them a bit more exciting and elegant. It should also be noted also that Henry worked under Riccardo Tisci and Julien MacDonald during his time at Givenchy so he knows what he is doing.

Carvens AW10 collection though is a bit amazing. It checks all the right boxes in terms of this years AW trends (there is a lot of camel, it’s very minimal) and avoids the pitfall of being one massive chunk of trend. It still manages to retain some individuality which I really like. The pieces are all more than wearable and as a collection it just looks elegant and classy. Not to mention I’m in love with the ad campaign too…

You can view the whole collection at the Carven website.

Boots, boots, boots,
17th August, 2010

About this time every year I always start to think about my winter wardrobe. The autumn collections have started to go into stores and all I can think about is jackets, jumpers, boots and other things probably not deemed suitable for August… Although given the state (rain, rain, rain) of the weather in London currently one might have to give that statement a second thought. Every winter I’m always in search of the perfect boot, the fact that I’m still continuing this search many years on probably means I’ve yet to find it but I have found some pretty close contenders…

Ultimately my favorites are the Leather explorer boot by Burberry and the artic boot by Common Projects, with the Topman LTD pair in a close third. However the more affordable and probably wisest choice out of all these boots is the Dr Marten 8 hole boot. It’s classic, never goes out of fashion and is practical, not to mention it’s price tag won’t force you into selling a kidney. Still, it’s always nice to have a look at the more pricey options!

1. Topman LTD – Black leather boot 2. Burberry – Leather explorer mid boot 3. Kris Van Assche – Bowling ankle boots 4. Common projects – Artic boot 5. Marc Jacobs – College ankle boot 6. Hunter – Original wellington 7. Dr Martens – Navy 8 hole boot 8. J.W Anderson
